Panel Upgrades

Electrical Panel Upgrades That Keep Your Home Safe and Up to Code

Your electrical panel is the heart of your home's electrical system. If it's over 20 years old, running out of breaker slots, or struggling to keep up with modern appliances, it's not just an inconvenience, it's a safety risk.

At Dominion Electric, your residential electrician in Arlington, WA, we upgrade panels from 100A all the way to 400A, including 100A to 200A, 200A to 320A, and 320A to 400A service upgrades. Every panel upgrade includes whole-home surge protection to guard your appliances and electronics against power spikes. We handle the permits, schedule the inspection, and manage everything from start to finish so you don't have to lift a finger.

Most panel upgrades are completed in 2 days with around 6 hours of power loss to the home. If you're also upgrading your service and not just the panel, plan for 2 days as well. We'll walk you through exactly what to expect before we ever touch a wire.

Serving homeowners in Arlington, Marysville, Tulalip, Stanwood, and Mt. Vernon.

Home Electrical

Home Electrical Services That Add Comfort, Safety, and Value

The right electrical upgrades can make your home noticeably safer and more enjoyable, and most of them are simpler than homeowners expect.

We specialize in recessed interior lighting, adding it cleanly to any room without tearing up your ceiling. We also install landscape and outdoor lighting, under-cabinet lighting, and smart switches and dimmers. Lutron is our preferred brand for its reliability and ease of use.

For bathrooms, we install bidet outlets and handle bath fan upgrades and replacements, including models with humidity sensors and built-in lighting. For outdoor living, we wire infrared deck heating systems (Infratech is a brand we recommend) and run dedicated circuits for hot tubs, a proper spa panel with GFCI protection and room for additional outlet circuits.

Kitchen and bathroom outlets are among the most used and most overlooked parts of your home's electrical system. If something feels off, give us a call before touching anything yourself.

We also make sure your smoke detectors are installed, functioning, and interconnected, meaning if one goes off, they all go off. It's one of the most important safety upgrades in any home and one that far too many homeowners overlook.

Full Home Re-Device Upgrade

Full Home Outlet and Switch Replacement for Every Homeowner

If your home has never had its outlets and switches replaced, or if a handyman has been in the walls at some point, you're likely living with connections that are loose, improperly grounded, or just plain unsafe. Most homeowners don't realize how common this is until something stops working.

Our full home re-device upgrade covers every outlet and switch in your home. We remove the old devices, reconnect all wiring using secure screw terminals instead of the cheaper push-in connections, add proper grounding where it's missing, and install arc fault breakers that detect unsafe electrical conditions before they become a fire.

Most homes are completed in 2 to 3 days. You don't need to be home for the work, but if you are, we can work in sections so your WiFi and key circuits stay live while we move through the house.

Shed & Outbuilding Power

Shed and Garage Electrical Wiring for Any Structure on Your Property

A detached shed, garage, barn, or workshop is only as useful as what you can power inside it. Whether you need basic lighting and a few outlets or a fully wired workspace with its own dedicated circuits, Dominion Electric brings reliable power to any structure on your property with no maximum distance from the home.

We run the line underground or overhead depending on the job and what works best for your property. Many homeowners dig the trench themselves to save on cost, and we're happy to work with that. If it's a long run, we can rent a trenching machine and factor that into your estimate upfront so there are no surprises.

We size the service based on what you need now and what you might want down the road, whether that's a 20A circuit for a small shed or a 100A sub-panel for a full workshop. Every outbuilding job includes a dedicated sub-panel inside the structure so you have room to grow. We'll ask the right questions and make a recommendation that makes sense for your space.

Serving properties in Arlington, Marysville, Tulalip, Stanwood, Mt. Vernon, and throughout Snohomish and Skagit County.

EV Charger Installation

EV Charger Installation by a Licensed Residential Electrician

Owning an EV without a proper home charger gets old fast. Dominion Electric installs Level 1 and Level 2 EV chargers in garages, on exterior walls, on driveways, and on siding, wherever works best for your property.

We work with all major charger brands and recommend ChargePoint and Tesla Wall Connector for their reliability and ease of use. You're welcome to supply your own unit or have us source one for you.

If your panel can't support a new charger circuit, we bundle the upgrade into the same job. No need to coordinate two separate contractors. Most installs are done in 2 to 4 hours.

We also install EV chargers for small commercial properties and multi-unit buildings, not just residential homes. If you're a landlord or small business owner, give us a call.

The Story Behind Dominion Electric

How a Slow Season Changed Everything

Going way back, starting my own company was never the plan. I knew what it took, the risk, the paperwork, the slow months, and that was enough to keep me right where I was.

I had a company van, tools I didn't pay for, and steady work. What I didn't have was a paycheck that kept up with a growing family. The economy wasn't helping either.

I'd been doing side work for friends and family for years and kept noticing the same thing: I could make a lot more on my own. But a side job isn't a company. It took a long slow season to finally push me over the line.

That slow season I started studying for my electrical contractor license. A few attempts. Then I passed. And now I'm here, working for myself and doing work I'm proud of.

Every time I finish a panel upgrade or a full home re-device, I take a good look at it and feel it. Not because it looks clean, but because I know that house is safer than it was when I walked in. That's what matters to me.

Questions Arlington Homeowners Ask Us Most

Here are straight answers to what Arlington homeowners ask their residential electrician most before a job gets booked

1. Do you service my area?
right

Dominion Electric serves homeowners across Snohomish and Skagit County, including Arlington (98223), Marysville (98270, 98271), Stanwood (98292), Tulalip, and Mt. Vernon. We also take jobs in Whatcom County on a case-by-case basis. If you're outside these areas, give us a call and we'll let you know.

2. Do you handle permits and inspections?
right

Yes, we take care of everything. Permits, scheduling the inspection, and making sure the work passes. You don't have to coordinate anything on your end.

3. Do I need to be home during the work?
right

Not necessarily. For most jobs you don't need to be there. If you are home, we can work in sections to keep your WiFi and key circuits live while we move through the house.

4. How does your on-site estimate work?
right

We come to your home, look at the job in person, and write up your estimate right there. No vague quotes over the phone. You'll know the price before any work begins.

5. How long does a panel upgrade take?
right

Most panel upgrades are completed in 2 days with roughly 6 hours of power loss to the entire home. We'll walk you through the timeline before we start so you can plan accordingly.

6. What is a full home re-device upgrade and does my home need one?
right

It's a full replacement of every outlet and switch in your home with properly grounded, safely wired devices. If your home is older, has never had its devices replaced, or has had handyman electrical work done at any point, it likely needs one.

7. Do you offer financing?
right

Yes. We offer financing through MoneyLion, built directly into our job management system. If you'd like to explore a payment plan before your project starts, just let us know when you reach out and we'll walk you through the options.

8. Can the homeowner supply their own EV charger?
right

Yes. You can supply your own unit or we can source one for you. We recommend ChargePoint and Tesla Wall Connector for their reliability but we install all major brands.

9. What does the $99 electrical inspection include?
right

We go through your electrical panel, open outlets and switches throughout the home, test smoke detectors, and check for proper GFCI protection in all required areas including bathrooms, kitchen, garage, exterior, and laundry. We go over everything we find with you in person the same day.
